The Florence County Museum is proud to partner with the newly formed Archaeological Institute of the Pee Dee in hosting a series of lectures beginning Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
Ben Zeigler, founder of the Archaeological Institute of the Pee Dee will provide an opening preview of the series, introducing the subject of archaeology, the Pee Dee’s archaeological resources, as well as the Archaeological Institute of the Pee Dee, its ongoing Cashaway project, and future projects.
Benjamin T. Zeigler. Florence native. Lifelong avocational archaeologist and supporter of Florence Museum. Chairman of Archaeological Institute of the Pee Dee, McLeod Health, and President of the Florence County Historical Society. Former Chairman of Pee Dee Land Trust, Hobcaw Barony, and Francis Marion Trail Commission.
Received his BA from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN, an M. Phil. in English from Oxford University, and a J.D. from Harvard University.
The Archaeological Institute of the Pee Dee exists to provide a locally directed, consistently funded, and broadly focused organization dedicated to exploring, interpreting, and protecting the archaeological resources of or relating to the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina.

The Florence County Museum is located at 111 West Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29501. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is free of charge.
