This exhibit takes a look at the life of local sports icon, Cale Yarborough. Using a selection of artifacts, photos and other materials on loan from Yarborough and the NASCAR Hall of Fame, museum visitors will be guided through the major turning points and accomplishments of Cale’s career in the professional world of competitive stock car racing. Yarborough rose from humble beginnings in rural Timmonsville, SC, gradually gaining national celebrity status in the 1960s and ‘70s with a series of record breaking achievements and dramatic victories at the tracks of Darlington and Daytona.

CALE: A NASCAR LEGEND will open August 30, 2016 in the Special Exhibits Gallery. The exhibition will be on display through December 11, 2016.
