A Growing Community, an indoor-outdoor interactive exhibit for families, highlights the history of community gardening efforts in Florence from World War I to present day. Dig into the importance of gardens throughout history and learn how to create your own sustainable garden. Explore root vegetables with a larger-than-life mural, examine plants and garden creatures up close with the MicroEye video microscope, watch red worms use food waste to create valuable compost and keep up with the progress of the museum’s own vegetable garden. A Growing Community will be on display in the Education Gallery through October 30, 2016.
