We have personal boundaries that we may not even know exist until they are being threatened. We realize this when our brain sends warning signals to us. So what if those warnings are triggered by false information creating unnecessary boundaries and barriers to our development?”
Roger Halligan’s sculptures and wall reliefs employ familiar symbols to examine the nature of psychological and physical boundaries.
Uninterrupted engagement with news and social media causes these boundaries to undergo constant change as we attempt to orient ourselves in the world, leaving us in a state of chronic rationalizations.
Halligan has been exhibiting professionally since the 1990s. He is currently living and working from his studio in Lake City, SC.
Chronic Rationalizations will be on view in the FCM Waters Gallery from August 23 through December 3, 2021.
An opening reception will be held 5:30 - 7:30 Thursday, August 26, at the FCM Waters Gallery, 135 South Dargan St, Florence. The public is invited to attend.
