The Submission Process

Thank you for your willingness to contribute to the Faces of Florence exhibition in the Community Gallery. The intention of this exhibit is to highlight the variety of faces and familiar locations within Florence County. Old family photo albums are a great place to start looking. Submissions don’t have to be older photos, as we will also accept contemporary photos.

You can submit your photo digitally using the form below. All photo submissions will be reviewed by the museum’s curatorial staff to ensure and maintain quality standards. If you would like to increase the chances of having your submission included in the exhibition, you can do so by following the guidelines listed below.

Guidelines

Submit a photo that contains an individual or group in a location that is historically significant and/or interesting to the people of Florence County.

Submit an original photograph or a quality scan from an original photograph. If you submit a reproduction from a newspaper, yearbook, or directory the quality of that reproduction will be significantly inferior to that of the original photograph.

Submit a photograph that belongs to you or your family. The museum does not want to potentially upset a third party because you submitted an image that actually belongs to that third party.

Submit a photo that does NOT contain anything that could possibly be perceived as obscene, suggestive or offensive to others.

Submit a photo that has NOT been digitally manipulated. Images with additional features or text added to them will not be considered for the sake of maintaining consistency through out the exhibit.

Submit a digital image that is under a file size of 1mb. If the file size of your digital image is too large, we recommend using a free online image resizer like Tiny PNG to get your digital image’s file size under 1mb. We will accept: .jpg, .gifs, or .png files.

Image Rights Agreement

I (the “Owner”), agree that I solely hold the rights to reproduce and copyrights of the photographic portraits or pictures being submitted for exhibit consideration at the Florence County Museum (the “Museum”).

The Owner for good and valuable consideration, the receipt of which is acknowledged, hereby grants to the Museum, its legal representatives, assignees, and those acting under its authority, the restricted and/or use, and/or publish photographic pictures in the ownership of the Owner (the "Pictures"), and the negatives, transparencies, prints, or digital information pertaining to them, in still, single, multiple, moving or video format, or in which Owner may be considered for inclusion in whole or in part, or composite, or distorted in form, or reproductions thereof, in color or otherwise, solely for use in Museum’s “Face of Florence” exhibition (the “Exhibition”) located in the museum’s Community Gallery.

The Owner hereby relinquishes any right that he/she may have to examine or approve the finished product or products or the final image manipulation that may be used in connection with an image that the Owner has provided to the Museum, or the use to which it may be applied in the Exhibition. The Museum is not obligated to use the Owner’s Pictures, and the Museum reserves the right to refuse usage of the Owner’s Pictures for the Exhibition.

The Owner further releases Museum its parent (Florence County), subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, servants, or employees (“Releasees”) from any claims for remuneration associated with any form of damage, foreseen or unforeseen, associated with the exhibition use of these images unless it can be shown that said reproduction was maliciously caused, produced and published for the sole purpose of subjecting the Owner to conspicuous ridicule, scandal, reproach, scorn and indignity.

The Owner, as the holder to the image rights of the Pictures, solely accepts any legal responsibility for any claims of copyright infringement that may come to Museum and the Releasees for use of the Pictures in the Exhibition.

It is the express intent of Owner that this document shall bind all members of Owner’s family, heirs, assignees and personal representatives.
