The Florence County Museum Education Department is proud to announce the completion of an outdoor Museum Walk featuring interpretive panels with content from the museum’s collection, nestled within a variety of pollinating and sensory stimulating flora.
The walk, located to the west of the museum, invites exploration and curiosity set in the middle of city sounds, highlighting the juxtaposition of nature and urban life. Through a QR coded link viewers can access a plant identification page housed on the museum’s website. The museum invites the public to observe the plantings change and grow through the seasons. While currently young, over time, the garden will become an oasis for pedestrians to enjoy, connecting the cultural district to historic downtown Florence.
The Florence County Museum Board and staff are looking forward to introducing community programs and plant sales highlighting the new garden. Additional information will be available early next year.
This project is made possible through the generosity of the Foundation for the Carolinas, Florence Downtown Development Corporation, Florence County Museum Foundation and Trustees of the Florence Museum.
